From September 2000 to September 2001, Ms. Korentayer wrote a monthly column on technology and community development for the online magazine SiliconSalley.com .

Prior to working at Geekcorps, she was a member of the program staff of the Synergos Institute , a non-profit which supports philanthropic organizations in developing countries.

Other research projects have included research proposals for Netaid.org , a report used by the New York Board of Education in coping with the aftermath of September 11th and bioterrorism, and policy writings on the impact of September 11th on the disabled in New York City.
